Court Mantenance - Courts 5 & 6
The front walls on courts 5 & 6 have now been replaced and the courts are available to book through the system from Wednesday 30 July. At the same time the floors have been sanded (inc. Court 2) and court walls cleaned.
As the Chairmans' note back in May, court 5 has a glass panel front wall and court 6 has the standard white panels. You can see more detail on McWil panel courts at this web address: www.courtwall.com/en/a0.html.
We will keep the 2 different surfaces for a period of time - when we can elect to change the glass wall to the standard panels.
This court surfacing is to WSF standards and lots of better players than me have said that although it sounds different the surface is good to play on. I am sure it won't be long before we all get used to them.
The Committee negotiated a substantial discount on the deal which allows McWil to use our courts as a demo centre with pre-arrangement. This is unlikely to impact on peak playing times.

Table Tennis - Court 1
Table tennis is now set up on court 1 and the court is available to be booked through the booking system - this is for a trial period to see how it goes. Don't forget to bring your own bats and balls.
Squash players please bear this in mind when booking squash courts. No squash on court 1 for the trial period - 10-12 weeks.
Also, Monday club night will now have a section for table tennis starting next Monday. Again let us know if you are interested.

Court Maintenance starting Friday 18 July 2008
Please be aware that courts 5, 6 and 2 are being sanded today and tomorrow. They are available for booking from tomorrow and could even be open for play tonight but be aware that they will be dusty and could be slippery.
We are also looking for volunteers to keep them mopped down a few times each day – that will help reduce the dust situation and get them back to normal more quickly. Let me know if you can help in any way?
Further maintenance to all courts is taking place over the next 3 weeks and there will be court closures. Please see the booking system for details.
We apologise for any inconvenience but are hope that you appreciate this is for very good reasons. This Committee's aim is to have 6 good standard playing courts ready for next season.

Changes to booking procedure
Effective 1 July 08 the mandatory naming of your opponent will be introduced on the electronic booking system.
You will be charged a £5 visitors fee in addition to the court fee if an opponent is not included.
You will be refunded the £5 visitors fee if you include an opponent/member before the court becomes live.

Repairs to courts 5 & 6
The Committee is pleased to tell you that subject to purchase agreement we have agreed the repairs to courts 5 & 6.
McWill have offered us a deal we cannot refuse and we will be replacing both of the front walls with panels. For a substantial discount on the usual price we have agreed that McWil can use us as a demo centre for a limited period of time.
Court 6 will have the standard board and court 5 will start off with a glass panel front wall replacement. Check out their website for more information: www.courtwall.com/en/a0.html
After an agreed period of time we can elect for Court 5 to go back to the normal board.

Local Enfield girl - Alison Waters from Southgate Squash & Racketball Club (SSRC), Enfield, is National Womens Squash Champion.
Alison started playing at SSRC as a Junior. Played in Barnet Youth Games squad, (ex Barnet resident + school), Middlesex and England winning teams.

Court Lights Apologies to all and please bear with us while we sort out the lighting on the courts. Nick Teeling has sourced a tower and Richard Issamdar and Nick have repaired the lights on courts 3, 4, 5 & 6. There is one bulb that could not be replaced due to damage to the fitting.
Courts.
Several professional companies have been asked to survey the 6 courts at Southgate and quote for works needed including the major works to courts 5 & 6 front walls.More news soon.
Andrew Shelley, Peter Empson and Nick Teeling have received and provided a quote to SSRC Committee for work on Courts 5 and 6.
Materials as approved by England Squash / PSA.
Peter & Lorna viewed / tested Haywards Heath Squash 'walls' (same construction as in quote) Saturday 12th Jan - report to Committee meeting 15th Jan.
Other quotes being reviewed.

Servicing on Court Heaters carried out Thursday 17th Jan. (with quote received for court 1). Awaiting some parts.
Lighting checked same day - awaiting some fittings. Estimate for more efficient lights awaited from M.Lomas.
Courts 1, 3 & 4 - floors sanded Thursday 17th Jan.
SSRC Committee apologise for any inconvenience caused whilst they are being 'swept & damped'.
