Weekly Update

SSRC May Update 2020

Firstly the committee and I send our best wishes to all members and trust you are bearing up under these exceptional circumstances.

While we are all missing the club, the social scene and most importantly the fitness and competition of our squash and racketball we thought we would put out a short update to let everyone know what is going on.

The Ground and the Club

The Trust and the club desperately want to get the ground and club open again.
The advice from England Squash is that all clubs must remain closed.

Once we get the go-ahead to open we will advise: Germany, Switzerland and New Zealand have all now reopened squash clubs for: solo training, 1v1 and single coaching sessions.

When we return, we have received funds from England Squash to support a friendly tournament and get together which we look forward to.

SSRC Mark Cowley

We are sending our best wishes to one of our most successful members, Mark Cowley, who has been fighting this terrible illness for several weeks and is currently still in intensive care at UCLH in central London.
With the family’s support, Rob Draper has set up a just giving page to raise funds for the hospital.

The family have also set up a facebook page where you can leave messages of support for Mark.  Some of the messages from celebs are fitting for the former World No.1.

The Walker Cricket Ground Trust

Many people do not realise how hard it is to fund the Walker ground and the Trust needs the ground open and the generating income to survive.
Please help support The Walker Ground during the Coronavirus closure. Every donation however big or small is appreciated and will help ensure the ground can continue to be enjoyed by the community for years to come.
